Totally agree. I'm certaily not saying we should have bought him but someone like Traore from Wolves would have made more sense than Ings. He wouldn't have scored a lot of goals but at least you would have had a similar bulldozer to Antonio top bring on!

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Yesterday was the perfect game to get him some fitness, the piece of shit Moyes had already fucking rolled over and mentally taken the loss before kickoff but he decides to flog the knackered and borderline useless Antonio a bit more and then bring on Dogshit Danny for another session of hopeless fucking lolloping about. Meanwhile Cornet is still not up to speed at a time we really could do with him.

Another genius win for Moyes.

The only one l can think of is Autonovic, not sure on spelling, he did get a tune out of him.

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
He needs a run of 4 or 5 games to gel and get up to speed of the game. He isn't getting that with the team in its current position. He will have to prove his fitness and ability in pre-season next year to get himself a regular spot.

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Don't think it's a good idea for attacking players to only get a few minutes here and there. Not good for confidence at all and just leads to frustration, because they're usually judged more harshly than defensive players are if they don't contribute much during their brief appearances.

Those few games where he has been given more than just a few mins have all come in games that were either pretty much already lost with the whole team chasing their tails (Newcastle, Liverpool) or already won and with the team in cruise control (Bournemouth, Larnaca). I know the opposition wasn't up to much but he got 1 or 2 assists in each of the 4 games he started at the beginning of the season.

It's not even like Benrahma or Fornals have warranted having that LW spot over him. You'd say it was a ridiculous state of affairs but it's just typical Moyes really.

Out of all the players we've had, is there anyone that Moyes has got a tune out of?

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Add it to the wealth of evidence for the prosecution case against Moyes on grounds of him being a boring bastard with a complete inability to manage a squad.

There have been plenty of opportunities to bring him on and give him more time and most other managers would have taken them

Crassus 5:19 Thu May 4
Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
I thought he was a brilliant buy for West Ham

Player of the season last year at Burnley
Good goal return
Pace
Left sided
Plays up the flank from even FB to inside forward

What looked a cracking bargain, they had to sell, now looks an expensive bench warmer

I really don't know what goes through Moyes mind?

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
He has absolutely missed some sitters but more often than not he has created them himself out of nothing. He should be getting more minutes, its fucking ridiculous.

He showed what he can do with the disallowed goal vs Chelsea. We also saw what he can do with Burnley last season. I'm in disbelief to be honest at the lack of minutes he's had since he come back.

Last night at 1-0 he should've been the player put on to get us up to pitch quicker. In fact, he should've started for that exact reason, to relieve the constant pressure we went up there happy to bend over for.

Cunt.

77mins in a month with the longest 27mins when we were miles underwater v Newcastle
Not sure you can judge anyone on that with no match fitness.
Think many said last night was the opportunity to freshen Antonio up for Man Utd and give Cornet the thankless task of running the channels chasing HOOFS clear with 3 men for company.
Squad management has been MYSTIFYING
The favourite boys exhausted and run ragged with several others just plain rusty and frustrated

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Looked a good player last season at Burnley 9 goals in 26 appearances I think . Like others have said there's clearly something wrong at the club too many decent players are being completely overlooked. . And the others are being flogged like the minstrel in the 1977 Epsom derby . The buck stops at the top with Sullivan. He's allowed it to happen.

southbankbornnbred 3:53 Thu May 4
Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Zico,

Exactly! It's patently obvious that either Moyes doesn't know his own mind, despite 20+ years in management and a very limited tactical range - or somebody else (Sullivan, most likely) is punting specific signings.

I have no problem with limited managers signing players who fit their system - providing that's what gives that manager the best chance of winning games. Allardyce and Carroll, for example.

But under Moyes, who really does not know how to use most players, and has a limited (tactical) view of who constitutes a first-team player, we have repeatedly signed ill-fitting names. They're decent players in their own right (Scamacca, Haller etc), but not at all suited to Moyes' regressive and predictable system.

Scamacca will go back to Italy and score a lot of goals. Mourinho thinks he might lose Abraham in the summer, and has his eyes on Scamma as a replacement at Roma.

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Re Ings, Gonzo put a video on recently where I think he said Moyes had Ings looked at when he was managing in Spain. So as the video suggested Moyes knows all about Ings so should know he isn't the type to play as a lone forward in a counter attacking system, but goes and buys him for West Ham to play exactly the role Moyes knows he can't play! Been a very scatter gun approach to signings and a lot of them don't make sense.

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Well seeing as how he's played less than 8 minutes a game for the past 10 matches I'm not sure if it's really fair to be writing him off. But thanks to Moyes's boneheaded treatment of him there's little or no chance of him improving his 'form'.

Cornet is just another in a long line of very expensive players who Moyes buys and then pretty much ignores, starting five years ago with the £10 million wasted on Hugill.

The more I've seen of Moyes the more he comes across as a man with limited intelligence who has absolutely no ability to analyse and improve on his own shortcomings.

The sooner he fucks off the better.

Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Fifth - Agree to an extent, but come on, one can stay gauge some things from his sub appearances of late and he hasn't looked very good. I was pleased when we signed him as I thought he looked decent at Burnley and could give us that bit extra in the final third what we are lacking and could stretch defenses late on in games etc.

But it is strange that after waiting 5 months for him to get fit he hasn't been given a proper go yet, or I suppose many would say it isn't strange at all, thing is also it's Benrahma who has effectively been keeping him out and he's been crap for ages now.

I suppose we will have to had Cornet to all the other players who the jury is still out on while Moyes is here, but what if Moyes stays, will we be having these exact same convo's next season too? It's all very fucking exhausting.

southbankbornnbred 3:34 Thu May 4
Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Btw, I have absolutely no idea if Max is a decent player or not. His injury, then lack of game time, and a manager who never uses such players well, all mean it's impossible to tell.

southbankbornnbred 3:32 Thu May 4
Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
Yet another of the signings under Moyes who the manager simply doesn't trust to deliver the tiny window of what he wants.

Ditto Scamacca, Downes, Areola, Ings and even, until recently, Paqueta.

We all know Moyes has a very specific, life-sucking way of playing. In terms of forwards, it's all about quick, direct players who will run the channels. Hence, Antonio and Bowen thrive in his system. But it means none of Scamacca, Cornet and Ings are going to settle into the side under Moyes.

Which makes you wonder why we bought them in the first place. We're they Moyes' choices? In which case, yet another reason to sack the miserable football vaccum. Or were they Sulli's signings? In which case, why sign players the manager simply will never use?

Either way, the whole shitshow sums up what West Ham have been all about this season: a disjointed, unambitious mess overseen by idiots.

Jim79 3:22 Thu May 4
Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
He IS just like a new signing and Moyes is treating him just as he would any new signing..........by leaving him on the bench for months on end for no apparent reason.

Fifth Column 2:59 Thu May 4
Re: The mysterious case of Maxwel Cornet
I can't understand people making judgements about him or many other players given he gets no time on the pitch and that Moyes just picks the same team week after week to the point of them getting injured. I have no idea how good Cornet is but I haven't concluded we should get rid of him
